For the more adventurous soul, there are plenty of street markets, bars, and clubs to keep you entertained until the sun comes up again. No matter which part of Koh Phangan you make your temporary home, there is something not too far away to tempt your thirst for fun. In Hat Rin, and Thong Sala especially, the prices are low and the noise level high. The crowd is a mix of young Thais, foreigners, backpackers and ex-pats who are looking to have a good time.

Restaurants

Koh Phangan Island is a food-lover's paradise. As the island is still something of a secret, the food is not only top notch, but ultra-traditional as well. Most visitors eat at their bungalows, where the food is inexpensive and emphasises fresh seafood.

The dedicated food enthusiast will find many places down different streets that will delight the eye and please the palate. Sample the restaurants mentioned here, but don't forget to do a little exploring on your own. The best meal is often the one you didn't plan on.

Bars

On the night of the full moon, every restaurant, bar and store turns itself into a bar that will sell you buckets stuffed full of alcohol in many varieties. The four best bars (which are also the loudest) are The Cactus Club, Drop In Club, Vinyl, and Zoom, all located in Hat Rin.

Clubs

The biggest, best club scene on Koh Phangan is during the Full Moon, Black Moon, and Pre-Full Moon Parties.

Ban Tai hosts a good Black Moon Party two weeks after the Full Moon (FM), and has been doing so for three years.

Live Music

Many of the bars also play live music, because Koh Phangan residents, like their brothers and sisters all over Thailand, believe in mixing their pleasure with other pleasures.

The Full Moon, Black Moon, Set Moon, and pre-Full Moon parties also attract musicians. Try any of the clubs, bars, and restaurants mentioned above as well as the ones listed in this section.
